How did 18th-19th century French artists harness the power of their craft to sway public opinion as well as social media influencers do today? This lecture series will explore the techniques artists use to change perceptions, make political statements and create an uproar over contemporary events. Learn French history, discuss artistic trends and styles and become familiar with famous 18th-19th century paintings.
About the instructor
Courtney Hart is both an art historian and an artist. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Art History from Brigham Young University where she graduated with Honors. She then received a grant to do field research in Argentina on a photographer from the early 1900's. She continued to study Art History at the Universidad de Saltillo in Northern Mexico and then traveled to Spain where she continued her studies in Spanish art at one of the oldest Universities, La Universidad de Alcalá. She has always been passionate about art. She began painting and continued working on her craft through college and all of her studies. She is self taught and now works as a freelance artist and muralist full time.
