Workshop Description

The secret ingredient of drawing (and painting) is LIGHT! In order to hone your skills, it is helpful to understand what you are seeing. And half of seeing is seeing with the mind.

To understand light, it is necessary to understand form, which reflects light. To understand form, we must use our minds and imagination to translate three dimensional reality onto the two dimensions of your drawing surface.

This is the goal of the workshop: to translate what we see, which is three dimensional reality, into two dimensions. We will work with the living figure to achieve this! We will learn how to model form in ways which will lead to our understanding of form.

My teaching philosophy is simple: I am here to help. And I am here to MAKE YOU HAVE FUN! I want my students to succeed.

I will demonstrate a little, to help communicate the concepts I have explained, but we will draw (and paint, with pastels) most of the time. It will be a dojo, made to engage your mind, and fill you with joy!
