Workshop Description
Students will draw in charcoal the plaster cast of st. Teresa. Cast drawing is critical preparation for drawing a human face from life, as the cast simplifies the task of finding form through light and shadow. We'll learn steps in a visual process to accurately represent the plaster form as true to life as possible. By first simplifing the general contour, dividing light from shadow, and keying values to those of nature, students will learn the basic principles of drawing a portrait from life using a strictly visual approach.
