Workshop Description
Explore the glamorous and expressive qualities of Fashion Illustration in this two-day workshop taught by artist and fashion industry veteran, Ashlee Rudert. We will discuss the unique conventions and aspects of illustrating garments and fashion figures, both as a creative outlet and practical use for design development. Working with ink, alcohol markers, and pencil, we will explore hands-on rendering of assorted textiles and garment silhouettes. Students will also learn how to develop figure poses for creating a library of fashion croquis for use in designing garments. In the second day of class, students will enjoy drawing from a live model to create gestural, spontaneous illustrations.
This class will be especially suitable for the intermediate level artist, but all skill levels are welcome. Demonstrations will be presented using the items from the materials list. However, intermediate/advanced level students may choose to do additional experiments with other types of media they are proficient in using (e.g. watercolor, gouache) or with digital drawing programs on a tablet.
