Oil Painting: Compositions with Veronica Zak

Class description
The second in our four-part series to get you comfortable using oil paints in all their glory! In this class we will delve a little deeper into oils, specifically how to plan an oil friendly composition. Some paintings may require you to take time (sometimes weeks) for a painting to dry before you can move on to the next layer, and some you can paint all in one go with the proper planning. We will be making one full landscape painting during this class using our new composition techniques.
Supplies
We provide: Paper towels, cups, pallet paper, practice canvas paper and an easel. Additionally, we can provide all painting supplies for use in this class (other than square canvas and brushes) for an added fee.
Required Materials:
Small Canvas (square, between 5 x 5” and 10 x 10”)
A few small to medium sized brushes.
Optional Materials:
A pallet, ideally one with a lid so you can save your paint
An apron
Oil Paint (We will provide paint supplies for an added fee if you don’t have your own.)
Turpenoid or Artist’s White Spirit (for cleaning), Galkyd Lite (for blending)
Recommended colors for this class are:
Ultramarine Blue
Titanium White
Quinacridone Red OR Permanent Carmine
Cadmium Yellow Light (Avoid Hues– those aren’t as good!)
Burnt Umber
