Class description
The third in our four-part series to get you comfortable using oil paints in all their glory! In this class we will experiment with some fun techniques like underpainting, glazing, using a pallet knife for textures, and scumbling. We will use a practice sheet to see the different effects that these can produce, and learning how to implement them into works of art by making a painting using some new techniques.
Supplies
We provide: Paper towels, cups, pallet paper, practice canvas paper and an easel. Additionally, we can provide all painting supplies for use in this class (other than square canvas and brushes) for an added fee.
Required Materials:
Small Canvas (square, between 5 x 5” and 10 x 10”)
A few small to medium sized brushes.
Optional Materials:
A pallet, ideally one with a lid so you can save your paint
An apron
Oil Paint (We will provide paint supplies for an added fee if you don’t have your own.)
Turpenoid or Artist’s White Spirit (for cleaning), Galkyd Lite (for blending)
Recommended colors for this class are:
Ultramarine Blue
Titanium White
Quinacridone Red OR Permanent Carmine
Cadmium Yellow Light (Avoid Hues– those aren’t as good!)
Burnt Umber
