Workshop Description
In this workshop we will paint from a live model. We will paint alla prima (direct painting) In an effort to express and reflect the character of the model. We will paint realistically, carefully observing the form of the model we actually see, inspired by the Old Masters.
The instructor will give painting demonstrations, a slide lecture, and critique every student's work, daily. We will be concerned with Design, Proportions, Relationships of Shapes, Values and Color based on our careful observation of the forms that we see. Attention will also be given to the care and use of our painting materials.
On each day we will concentrate on a different aspect of painting a person:
Day 1. Painting a Head Study (Portrait)
Day 2. Painting a Nude Figure Study
Day 3. Painting a Clothed Figure Study
Day 4. Painting a Figure or Portrait Composition
We will need one or two models each day depending on the number of students registered.
