Workshop description
Come learn the art of embroidery! This is a beginning workshop to teach you how to get started with this fun craft. You will learn all the basics and leave knowing how to do embroidery even if you’ve never done needlework before.
Instruction will be provided on how to transfer a design to fabric, choose fabrics, tighten a hoop, thread your needle, knot your needle, create a variety of stitches, switch threads, and finish off your project by learning a few display methods.
All the materials you will need are included in the workshop and you can take them all home, so you have everything you need to do another embroidery project!
All materials are included and the following are yours to take home: fabric, 5 skeins of embroidery floss, needle, embroidery hoop, heat erasable pen, paper bobbins, mini embroidery scissors, and a digital PDF guide to refresh your mind on the stitches after class.
About the Instructor
Rebecca Woolston lives and was raised in Utah. Influenced by the culture and the landscape, Rebecca uses fabric, thread, hoops, and needles to make her work. She studied studio art and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design from BYU. After college, Rebecca learned web development and started working in advertising. She has since worked with advertising agencies for 10 years, specializing in web design and user experience.
Now as a freelancer, she spends her studio time with the traditional arts of embroidery and hand quilting. She has a special interest in line art and creating depth and texture through thread, playing with solid colors and simple shapes. She is a homemaker with two young boys, teaches craft workshops, runs an Etsy shop, and is a sewing volunteer at the Utah Refugee Center.
