About the Instructor

Mary Ann spent nearly 30 years as a career art teacher in the Utah public school system, working with students on the West side of Salt Lake Valley in Jordan School District and in a state charter school. She received her BFA in drawing and Painting form the University of Utah in 1988, as well as her secondary teaching certification visual art.

As a teacher, her philosophy was to help students find their voices and gain an appreciation of art. After retiring, she has been focusing on finding her own voice and expressing thoughts and perceptions about life in her art. Much of the work is digital compositing, but oil painting is gaining ground.

Her work has been exhibited locally, in New York, and she was part of a one day digital exhibit at the Louvre in Paris. Painting enlivens her and the figure is her favorite vehicle.
